About Us

  • Mission
  • Our mission is to develop, uphold and preserve the Afrikan cultural heritage through research studies, documentation and packaging of our solutions to our people using information and communications technologies as the core infrastructure.

  • Vision
  • To become a global player on cultural doctrines and establish ourselves as primary information providers pertaining to Afrikan culture, tradition, heritage and history.

  • Purpose
  • To provide a platform where cultural diversity can be explored and solicit respect and tolerance towards a diverse cultural society.

  • Background
  • Nalane was established in 1998 by Fezekile Futhwa. It was initially known as The Xhosa Virtual Resource Network, and later went through a number of changes that prompted changing its name along. The different names used so far are:
    • Afrikan Virtual Resource Network
    • The Sotho Virtual Resource Network
    • Afrikan Virtual Resource
After being in the industry for some time, Fezekile noted the lack of resources dedicated or geared towards the Afrikan people and the continent as such. The few sites that existed had content that was questionable at best and provided inconsistent views of Afrika and its people. He therefore decided to establish one that would address this concern and also ensure that anyone interested could contribute and participate in any way possible.

He started by establishing The Xhosa Virtual Resource Network, which is now part of the Nalane domain.

"In the true spirit of nation building."
